Explorer secures Richard Boland as US west coast dealer Cruising motoryacht builder Explorer Motor Yachts has appointed Richard Boland Yachts in California to represent the company’s luxury trawler-style cruisers throughout the western US and Mexico.
Richard Boland Yachts, based in Alameda, near San Francisco in northern California, is one of the longest established luxury boat dealerships on the US west coast, beginning in 1978. Boland began his career in the marine industry in 1968, designing, building and selling floating homes for 10 years before securing the exclusive northern California dealership for Viking Yachts in 1978.
Explorer Motor Yachts CEO Mark Campion said he was delighted to secure Boland and his team.
“I have known Richard more than four years and his team represents the best both in sales and service,” – he said.
Over the past 35 years Richard Boland Yachts has established a strong reputation for service in the luxury boating market, working with a range of the world’s biggest brands.
“I choose the brands we represent based upon their high quality and value to assure the long-term enjoyment of our clients,” – said Boland.
“We are excited to represent Explorer Motor Yachts because I know the effort and skills that has gone into building these boats. The trawler-style design is perfect for the oceans off the California and coastlines, both north and south. The Explorer range offers value, style and great seaworthiness.”
Explorer Motor Yachts offers semi-custom trawler-style cruisers ranging from 40 to 50 feet, pilothouse cruisers from 50 to 75 feet the Explorer Odyssey 52 and 62 long-range cruisers. The company was founded by CEO Mark Campion in early 2012, building on the heritage of Clipper Motor Yachts in which Campion was an equal founding partner.
In late 2011, Campion left Clipper to develop his concept of a range of semi-custom pilothouse cruisers that would rank alongside the best in the world.
“The Explorer Motor Yachts yard is staffed by some of the best shipwrights and naval architects in the world,” – said Campion.
“We set out to employ only those people with exceptional boat-building skills and experience. Our staff have been building boats for 25 years and have a superb eye for detail. They are supervised throughout the yard by shipwrights drawn from the UK. Together, our team has raised the bar of quality and craftsmanship.”
