HONG KONG, Friday, 5 June, 2015 – Luxury motoryacht builder Explorer Motor Yachts has announced the sale of four of its new 58 Pilothouse models – before the first one is delivered.
“We are thrilled with the market’s response to our new model,” said Explorer Motor Yachts CEO Mark Campion. “Four orders off the plan are powerful endorsement of the design and build quality that our yard is able to deliver on a consistent basis.”
The first boat will be delivered to its new owner in Norway towards the end of the year while the other orders have come from Sweden, Hong Kong and the Middle East.
Campion said the 58 Pilothouse follows in the tradition of the marque for high quality semi-displacement classic-style cruisers.
“She is a long-distance blue-water cruiser, designed to support family and friends in comfort and style in most sea states and to provide a high level of luxury,” he said.
“The 58 Pilothouse will appeal to experienced boating enthusiasts who cruise the coasts and seas of Europe, Asia and the Americas.”
The 58 offers three cabins and two bathrooms with the master suite stretching across the full beam amidships.
“Like all Explorer motor yachts, each 58 Pilothouse includes a number of bespoke elements that will make her unique to each client,” said Campion.
“We have also included a range of standard features that most builders offer only as options. These include both bow and stern thrusters for ultimate manoeuvring control.
“Teak decking is standard throughout – from the boarding platform, over the cockpit and on the side decks to midships.
“We have also provided a well equipped crew quarters aft of the engine room.
“Both the pilothouse and flybridge helms include hand-made teak wheels. We have included LED lighting throughout, with dimmers on most of the internal lighting. There is also subtle rope lighting through the saloon and courtesy LED lights on all external steps.
“In fact, the only options that a new owner needs to consider are whether to install a water-maker, stabilisers and which navigation electronics he requires.
“Our naval architect, Mark Williamson, is passionate about stability and safety. The hull is shaped for ultimate stability with a solid fibreglass laminate below the waterline safety measures include handrails set into the headliner of the saloon.”
Standard power is provided by a pair of Cummins turbo diesel engines rated to 480hp each.
Explorer Motor Yachts is building on the heritage of Clipper Motor Yachts in which Campion was an equal founding partner until late 2011 when he set up Explorer Motor Yachts to develop his concept of a range of semi-custom pilothouse cruisers that would rank alongside the best in the world.
“Our yard is staffed by some of the best shipwrights and naval architects in the world,” said Campion.
“We set out to employ only those people with exceptional boat-building skills and experience. Our staff have been building boats for 25 years and have a superb eye for detail. They are supervised throughout the yard by shipwrights drawn from the UK. Together, our team has raised the bar of quality and craftsmanship.”
